Resumes are not read but scanned, usually for about 15-25 seconds before a decision is made to keep or discard it. Your resume is the best marketing tool that you could have, it needs to have that attention grabbing quality so you get noticed.

A great resume has two sections:
·         First section speaks about your qualities, abilities and achievements.
·         Second section provides evidence to back up those assertions.

Following Things Should Be Strictly Apply while Preparing Resume

1.     Write concisely and clearly. There is no need to be unnecessarily used more word than required.
2.     Quantify Your Achievements. Instead of writing long lines, include some numbers to quantify your achievements. They make your resume more powerful.
3.     Look for grammatical & spelling mistakesThey can be a big give away about your education, knowledge and attitude.
4.     Hobbies & Interests. If you are 100% sure that you can well answer the questions about something that you call as your "hobby" then go ahead and write that under “HOBBIES”
5.     Don't use flashy fonts. Arial, Calibri, Times New Roman are fine. Resume is a formal document, keep it simple.
6.     Put relevant keywords. Most of the companies use Application tracking system (ATS) for shortlisting resumes, which searches for specific keywords in your resume. Try to put some words related to the job profile, but don't overuse them.
7.     Your project work/internships are most important to the recruiter. Present your project/internship work in a proper manner, and be ready to answer all the questions about it. They demonstrate your creativity, innovation, team-work, and skills. What you have created is much more important than what you have scored.
8.     Focus on Your Benefit to Employers. Describe your experience in a way that relates to the skills the employer is seeking.
9.     Don't follow one-size-fits-all strategy. Never send/submit a same resume to all companies, you apply for. Employers want you to write a resume specifically for them. They expect you to clearly show how and why you fit the position in a specific organization.
10.    Show relevant skills only. If you put too many skills and knowledge, the recruiter won’t remember any of them and the ones that matter will be lost in a mass. Show the most relevant skills for the role. A recruiter hiring for Database architect may not be much interested to know about your tech writing skills.
11.           Stand out of the crowd. Learning any language/skills, doing a small course from an institute, and certifications during your degree add a lot value to your resume, and help you compete with others in the recruitment process.
